Summative Assessment digital initiatives

Digital initiatives taking place as part of the Education Portfolio's Summative Assessment service stream

Summative Assessment is one of the Education Portfolio’s service streams. IT Services’ Education Portfolio aims to strengthen Oxford’s role as a world leader in teaching and learning through IT improvements for applicants, students and staff.

The Summative Assessment service stream strives to make digital improvements to the entire assessment process, from the initial creation of new Assessment Units through to the awarding of degrees and beyond.

Aims

The service stream works to integrate digital enhancements into everyday assessment practices – streamlining processes and enhancing support structures for students and for staff supporting the assessment process. This will protect assessment integrity, refine policy and operational processes and improve staff and student wellbeing by reducing workloads.

Specifically, Summative Assessment digital initiatives aim to:

  • For students: provide a more consistent and authentic experience of summative assessments for all students

  • For staff: simplify and streamline the administrative processes for summative assessment, reducing the work burden for academics and professional support staff
