UAS Migration
Information about the migration workstream focused on moving content from the University's central services to our new digital channels.
Background and context
The Transforming Oxford’s Digital Communications programme will make content easier to find, manage and maintain, while providing a consistent experience across the University. A key way of achieving this is by ensuring that content for all-staff and all-student audiences is published in a planned and coordinated way.
Most of the content for these audiences is managed by the University Administration and Services (UAS). Its information is currently published on more than 50 Mosaic websites, as well as on Oxweb and SharePoint, and not always in a way that is focused on individual audiences. This often makes it difficult for staff, students and other audiences to find the information they need.
The UAS migration strand of the Migration Project aims to change this, ensuring information is published on our new platforms in a way which works for all our users, whether they are internal or external to the University.
Where UAS content will be published
OxIntranet: Most information for staff and students will be published on OxIntranet, providing all the tools and guidance that our community needs to work and study. This includes operational and service information, such as HR systems, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Research and Innovation, as well as student support services.
Oxweb: Content for an external audiences will be published on Oxweb - including in the admissions areas for prospective students; jobs for prospective staff; and in our about and research areas for other audiences. There will also be small staff and student gateways on Oxweb, providing links through to OxIntranet for those starting their journeys on the open web, and information for staff and students that cannot be hosted behind single sign-on.
Work is taking place to ensure there are clear links and interfaces between Oxweb and OxIntranet, so that there is a positive experience for staff moving between the platforms.
Fresco: Only a small number of UAS teams will migrate from Mosaic site to Fresco, where there is a clear commercial imperative to reach a specific external audience, or a distinct external brand or visual identity must be maintained.
Migration plans and progress
The high-level information architecture for Oxweb and OxIntranet has now been agreed between the UAS and the platform teams.
Content will migrate to the new platforms in groups known as tranches, in line with a set of agreed migration principles.
Tranche 1 of UAS content went live in October 2025 as part of the initial launch of OxIntranet. Check out the Education and Student Support, Research and Innovation, Safety Office, Occupational Health, and Wellbeing sites.

UAS teams are being updated about the migration process through Steering Group and User group representatives, in line with the wider programme.
A small project team is managing migration activities, with dedicated support from Migration Coordinator Jamie Blomfield and Project Manager Tarrant Tonks.
UAS colleagues with queries about the migration should contact the relevant member of the User or Steering Group in the first instance.
