Single ‘source of truth’ for identity
In collaboration with the CRM and Data Strategy programmes, a shared approach to identity matching is being established. This will reduce duplication, improve data accuracy, and streamline processes across systems, saving time and effort for both users and administrators.
High-level processes for onboarding and offboarding
The new digital identity service will operate independently of the University card process, allowing for more flexible onboarding and timely action when someone leaves. It will also support individuals with flexible roles, such as students who also perform staff duties, outreach participants requiring access to digital content, and retirees engaged in occasional part-time work, helping to reduce friction and ensure appropriate access from the outset.
Piloting new services for local group management
The creation of locally managed groups within the Microsoft technology stack is currently being piloted. These groups support fine-grained access control to both physical and digital resources, offering greater autonomy while enhancing security and efficiency.
For an explanation of group management, see this overview of the new approach.
Investigating identity provision for non-matriculated students
Single sign-on (SSO) for non-matriculated students in the Department for Continuing Education is being explored. This initiative aims to improve the user experience by providing easier and more consistent access to university systems and services.
